This focused safeguarding course equips early years professionals to recognise faith-based abuse, challenge harmful myths, identify risk indicators, respond appropriately to concerns, and apply learning from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews to protect children confidently and lawfully.

Module 1 – Defining Faith-Based Abuse
Learners develop a clear understanding of what faith-based abuse is, how harm can be hidden behind belief, and why early years children are particularly vulnerable.
Module 2 – Myth Busting About Faith-Based Abuse
Learners challenge common myths that delay safeguarding action and learn to prioritise impact on the child over cultural or religious assumptions.
Module 3 – Signs and Indicators in Early Years
Learners identify signs of faith-based abuse in children, families, and settings, including increased risk for babies, children with special educational needs or disability, and children exploring identity.
Module 4 – Responding and Taking Action
Learners gain confidence in responding to disclosures and observations, recording concerns accurately, following the Designated Safeguarding Lead pathway, and taking appropriate multi-agency action.
Module 5 – Learning from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews (CSPRs)
Learners apply key lessons from serious safeguarding reviews to strengthen professional curiosity, escalation, and early intervention in faith-based abuse cases.
