A practical safeguarding course that equips early years practitioners to understand food allergies, recognise early warning signs, respond to reactions, manage emergency medication and create allergy-safe childcare environments.
Module 1 — Understanding Food Allergies in Young ChildrenLearn what food allergies are, why they are increasing and how the 14 major allergens affect early years practice.
Module 2 — Spotting an Allergic Reaction Early
Recognise skin, gastrointestinal, respiratory and circulatory symptoms so reactions are identified and escalated quickly.
Module 3 — What To Do If a Reaction Occurs
Develop confidence in emergency response including using epinephrine auto-injectors, calling emergency services and following care plans.
Module 4 — Creating a Safe Childcare Environment
Learn how to reduce risk through labelling, hygiene, food preparation routines and inclusive allergy-safe environments.
Module 5 — Supporting Children and Families
Build strong partnerships with families through communication, empowerment and consistent allergy management practice.
