Provides a clear, non-graphic understanding of what Female Genital Mutilation is, why it is always abuse, and practitioners’ core safeguarding duties. - Module 2 — Understanding FGM: Types & Context
Explains the four recognised types of FGM, the cultural and social context behind the practice, and why practitioners must remain non-judgemental but safeguarding-focused. - Module 3 — Who Is at Risk?
Outlines the global regions, family factors and cultural pressures that may increase risk while reinforcing that assumptions must never be made. - Module 4 — Indicators of Vulnerability & Imminent Risk
Equips practitioners to recognise early warning signs, high-risk language, planned travel concerns, and physical or emotional indicators after FGM. - Module 5 — What To Do: The Practitioner’s Responsibility
Sets out the immediate steps practitioners must take: recognise, record, report, and escalate concerns through the Designated Safeguarding Lead. - Module 6 — How to Talk About FGM Safely & Confidently
Provides clear guidance on safe communication with children and families, including supportive phrases and what not to say. - Module 7 — Legal Duties (Practitioner & Manager)
Covers all statutory duties, including EYFS requirements, the FGM Act 2003, mandatory reporting, Working Together, and KCSIE principles. - Module 8 — Scenario Reflections
Offers realistic examples to practise applying safeguarding procedures and build confidence in recognising and responding to risk.
