This course helps early years practitioners understand what County Lines exploitation is, how it affects young children and families, the signs to look for in nursery settings, and the correct safeguarding actions to take, including recording concerns and working with the DSL to keep children safe.

Module Contents

Module 1 – What Is County Lines?
Learners will understand the meaning of County Lines, how children are criminally exploited, and why those involved must always be seen as victims in need of safeguarding.
Module 2 – The Impact on Young Children
Learners will recognise how County Lines can affect family life, parenting, and a child’s emotional wellbeing, even when the child is not directly involved.
Module 3 – Signs and Indicators of Risk
Learners will identify possible behavioural, emotional, and environmental indicators that may suggest a child is living with County Lines-related harm.
Module 4 – Action to Take
Learners will know how to respond safely to concerns or disclosures, record information accurately, and follow correct referral procedures.
Module 5 – Reflection & Scenario Activity
Learners will practise applying safeguarding knowledge through realistic scenarios to strengthen professional judgement and decision making.
