This course supports early years practitioners to confidently use appropriate, safeguarding-compliant touch to promote children’s wellbeing, inclusion, emotional regulation, and EYFS best practice.
Module 1: Statutory and Non-Statutory Guidance
Learners understand the legal, safeguarding, and EYFS framework that underpins safe, nurturing, and professional use of touch in early years settings.
Module 2: The Effects of Touch
Learners explore how appropriate touch supports brain development, attachment, emotional regulation, and wellbeing, while recognising the impact of limited or inappropriate touch.
Module 3: How to Provide Appropriate Touch
Learners develop practical, child-centred skills to use touch safely, visibly, and respectfully, including consent, boundaries, SEND adaptations, and professional accountability.
Module 4: Inclusive Practice
Learners understand how to adapt touch to meet diverse sensory, cultural, communication, and SEND needs so every child feels included, safe, and valued.
Module 5: Safeguarding and Child Protection
Learners strengthen safeguarding confidence by recognising concerns, responding appropriately, recording accurately, and maintaining professional boundaries around physical contact.This course supports early years practitioners to confidently use appropriate, safeguarding-compliant touch to promote children’s wellbeing, inclusion, emotional regulation, and EYFS best practice.
